If you need a tyre repair in St Helens
Correct tyre inflation and why it's important
Correct tyre pressure will help extend the life of your tyres, improve vehicle safety and maintain fuel efficiency.
Having the right air pressure in your tyres helps to distribute the weight of the vehicle.
When tyres are over or under inflated, your vehicle loses it's stability, negatively affecting the handling, cornering and stopping, putting you and other road users at risk.
You can find the correct tyre pressure for your vehicle in your handbook, in the sill of the driver's door or on the inside of the fuel tank flap.
Under inflated tyres
Tyres can quickly become under-inflated if you don't check them on a regular basis.
This will lead to uneven contact with the road, you may also experience increased rolling resistance with the road which means reduced fuel efficiency and increased C02 emissions.
Over inflated tyres
In contrary to not putting enough air in your tyres, putting too much air in your tyres can be just as damaging and costly.
It will lead to heavy and uneven wear across the central part of your tyres.
